A superb antique large butter dish shaped in the form of a shell with a handle designed to accommodate a butter knife also. The stamp to the underside reveals the maker to be the late Victorian/Edwardian silversmith Watson and Gilliott of Sheffield.
The dish measures approx 11" long including the handle.
The dish has plenty of wear with major loss to the silver plating and it has other wear commensurate with age including scratching and patches of corrosion etc.
